EasyChannel is a project looking at the viability of creating a new channel to market for the Creative Industries of the East Midlands.

The project was run throughout 2005 by De Montfort University and Visionradio and was part funded by the European Union and by the East Midlands Development Agency. The aim - to create a new web portal that could promote and sell all forms of creative output and services to all buyers, using any format. To deliver a demonstration of the key supporting technologies and to engage with Creatives in the region to explore routes to longer-term sustainability.

All forms of creative output will be able to use the service. Physical pieces can be represented by photographs, other images, and by the artist’s description. Existing digital media can be carried. And services, events and performances can be promoted.

Taking it a step further than a web site, the target is to be able to provide connection to any form of web device. So the portal will be able to be used from a PC, a TV, mobile phone, PDA etc. thereby getting maximum coverage and maximum benefit from the web whilst future-proofing the investment.

We are talking to buyers, publishers and broadcasters, large and small, from within the region, in the rest of the UK and outside the UK.
